NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
ephexin-1: Acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) which differentially activates the GTPases RHOA, RAC1 and CDC42. Plays a role in axon guidance regulating ephrin-induced growth cone collapse and dendritic spine morphogenesis. Upon activation by ephrin through EPHA4, the GEF activity switches toward RHOA resulting in its activation. Activated RHOA promotes cone retraction at the expense of RAC1- and CDC42-stimulated growth cone extension. Interacts with CDK5R1 and EPHA4; activated by EPHA4 through the CDK5 kinase. Highly expressed in brain specifically in caudate nucleus and to a lower extent in amygdala and hippocampus. Also detected in lung. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: GEFs; GEFs, Rac/Rho
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q37
Cellular Component: growth cone; membrane; cytosol
Molecular Function: Rho guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity
Biological Process: axon guidance; regulation of small GTPase mediated signal transduction; regulation of GTPase activity; nerve growth factor receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of apoptosis; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; ephrin receptor signaling pathway; regulation of Rho protein signal transduction; positive regulation of GTPase activity

Product Notes
The NGEF ngef (Catalog #AAA9216135) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NGEF Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NGEF can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB ~~ 1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NGEF ngef for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NGEF, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
