Cellular Location
Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Microsome membrane; Peripheral membrane protein
Tissue Location
Expressed in liver (PubMed:7679927).Expressed in S2 and S3 segments ofproximal tubules in cortex and outermedulla of kidney (PubMed:7679927,PubMed:10660572).
Function
A cytochrome P450 monooxygenaseinvolved in the metabolism of fatty acidsand their oxygenated derivatives (oxylipins)(PubMed:7679927,PubMed:1739747,PubMed:8914854,PubMed:10553002,PubMed:10660572,PubMed:15611369).Mechanistically, uses molecular oxygeninserting one oxygen atom into a substrate, and reducing the second into a watermolecule, with two electrons provided byNADPH via cytochrome P450 reductase(CPR; NADPH-ferrihemoprotein reductase)(PubMed:7679927,PubMed:1739747,PubMed:8914854,PubMed:10553002,PubMed:10660572,PubMed:15611369).Catalyzes predominantly the oxidation ofthe terminal carbon (omega-oxidation) ofsaturated and unsaturated fatty acids, thecatalytic efficiency decreasing in thefollowing order: dodecanoic > tetradecanoic> (9Z)-octadecenoic >(9Z,12Z)-octadecadienoic > hexadecanoicacid (PubMed:10553002,PubMed:10660572). Acts as amajor omega-hydroxylase for dodecanoic(lauric) acid in liver (PubMed:7679927,PubMed:1739747,PubMed:8914854,PubMed:15611369).Participates in omega-hydroxylation of(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z)-eicosatetraenoic acid(arachidonate) to 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (20-HETE), asignaling molecule acting both asvasoconstrictive and natriuretic with overalleffect on arterial blood pressure(PubMed:10620324,PubMed:10660572,PubMed:15611369). Can alsocatalyze the oxidation of the penultimatecarbon (omega-1 oxidation) of fatty acidswith lower efficiency (PubMed:7679927). Maycontribute to the degradation of saturatedvery long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) such asdocosanoic acid, by catalyzing successiveomega-oxidations to the correspondingdicarboxylic acid, thereby initiating chainshortening (PubMed:18182499). Omega-hydroxylates(9R,10S)-epoxy-octadecanoatestereoisomer (PubMed:15145985). Plays aminor role in omega-oxidation of long-chain3-hydroxy fatty acids (PubMed:18065749). Has littleactivity toward prostaglandins A1 and E1(PubMed:7679927).
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for anti-CYP4A11 antibody
CYP4A11 is a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and hydroxylates medium-chainfatty acids such as laurate and myristate.

The immunogen sequence is 407-435. The CYP4A11 (4A22) Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CYP4A11 (4A22) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). IF~~1:10~50 WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CYP4A11 cyp4a11 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CYP4A11 (4A22), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
