Related Product Information for HYAL1 recombinant protein
HYAL1, also known as Hyaluronidase-1, is a member of the endolytic glycoside hydrolase family. Human hyaluronidases (HYALs) are a group of five endo¬beta¬N¬acetyl¬hexosaminidases that include HYAL1, HYAL2, HYAL3, HYAL4, and SPAM1 (PH20). HYAL1 preferentially degrades hyaluronic acid present in the extracellular matrix of somatic tissues. This protein is active at an acidic pHand is the major hyaluronidase in plasma. Defects in HYAL1 are associated with mucopolysaccharidosis type IX, or hyaluronidase deficiency. It is implicated in several types of cancers, likely due to the angiogenic effects of HYAL1-cleaved hyaluronan fragments. Recombinant human HYAL1, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in HEK293 cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a lysosomal hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidases intracellularly degrade hyaluronan, one of the major glycosaminoglycans of the extracellular matrix. Hyaluronan is thought to be involved in cell proliferation, migration and differentiation. This enzyme is active at an acidic pH and is the major hyaluronidase in plasma. Mutations in this gene are associated with mucopolysaccharidosis type IX, or hyaluronidase deficiency. The gene is one of several related genes in a region of chromosome 3p21.3 associated with tumor suppression. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

HYAL1: May have a role in promoting tumor progression. May block the TGFB1-enhanced cell growth. Defects in HYAL1 are the cause of mucopolysaccharidosis type 9 (MPS9); also called hyaluronidase deficiency. MPS9 is a lysosomal storage disease characterized by high hyaluronan (HA) concentration in the serum. The clinical features are periarticular soft tissue masses, mild short stature and acetabular erosions, and absence of neurological or visceral involvement. Belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 56 family. 7 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The HYAL1 hyal1 (Catalog #AAA8400659) is a Recombinant Protein produced from HEK293 cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 420aa(22-435aa). It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Hyaluronidase 1/HYAL1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
