NCBI Description

This gene encodes a tumor suppressor protein that reduces cell growth by stimulating apoptosis. The first intron of this gene contains the neuronatin gene, which is imprinted and only expressed from the paternal allele. This gene is imprinted in brain where it is differentially expressed from different promoters. Transcription from the upstream promoter occurs preferentially on the maternal allele, and transcripts are preferentially expressed from the downstream promoter on the paternal allele. Alternative promoters and alternative splicing result in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

BLCAP: May regulate cell proliferation and coordinate apoptosis and cell cycle progression via a novel mechanism independent of both p53/TP53 and NF-kappa-B. Belongs to the BLCAP family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Apoptosis; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Cell cycle regulation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q11.23

Product Notes

The BLCAP blcap (Catalog #AAA8309247) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BLCAP Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BLCAP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BLCAP blcap for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BLCAP, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
