NCBI Description

This gene encodes an arginyltransferase, an enzyme that is involved in posttranslational conjugation of arginine to N-terminal aspartate or glutamate residues. Conjugation of arginine to the N-terminal aspartate or glutamate targets proteins for ubiquitin-dependent degradation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2013]

Uniprot Description

ATE1: Involved in the post-translational conjugation of arginine to the N-terminal aspartate or glutamate of a protein. This arginylation is required for degradation of the protein via the ubiquitin pathway. Does not arginylate cysteine residues. Belongs to the R-transferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transferase; EC 2.3.2.8

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q26.13

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; arginyltransferase activity

Biological Process: protein arginylation

Product Notes

The ATE1 ate1 (Catalog #AAA823748) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ATE1 Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ATE1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Blocking Peptide to the diluted primary antibody in a molar ratio of 10:1 (peptide to antibody) and incubate the mixture at 4 degree C for overnight or at room temperature for 2 hours. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ATE1 ate1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ATE1, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
