Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of HFABP. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between HFABP and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between HFABP and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.

Intended Uses: This HFABP ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Mouse HFABP. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: HFABP ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-HFABP antibody and an HFABP-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with HFABP-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the HFABP concentration since HFABP from samples and HFABP-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-HFABP antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by HFABP from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind HFABP-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The HFABP concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

The intracellular fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) belongs to a multigene family. FABPs are divided into at least three distinct types, namely the hepatic-, intestinal- and cardiac-type. They form 14-15 kDa proteins and are thought to participate in the uptake, intracellular metabolism and/or transport of long-chain fatty acids. They may also be responsible in the modulation of cell growth and proliferation. Fatty acid-binding protein 3 gene contains four exons and its function is to arrest growth of mammary epithelial cells. This gene is a candidate tumor suppressor gene for human breast cancer. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

Function: FABP are thought to play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm.

Domain: Forms a beta-barrel structure that accommodates the hydrophobic ligand in its interior.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family.

Product Notes

The Mouse H-FABP fabp3 (Catalog #AAA725708) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA725708 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse H-FABP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "heart fatty acid binding protein, h-FABP, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
