Participates in the host transcription shutoff by causing premature termination of transcription from host DNA. Acts as a site-specific termination factor that abolishes transcript elongation on cytosine-containing DNA but not on the 5-hydroxymethyl cytosine present in the viral DNA. Therefore inhibits as well transcription from other phages that contain cytosine in their DNA.
