Related Product Information for GASP-1 active protein
Growth and differentiation factor-associated serum protein-1 (GASP-1) is a secreted inhibitory TGF-beta binding protein that contains multiple protease inhibitor structural domains. It is expressed primarily in the ovary, testis, and brain, and can act as a potent soluble inhibitor of myostatin and GDF-11, but not Activin-A. The GASP-1 gene encodes a 571 amino acid protein that contains a 29 amino acid secretion signal sequence, and multiple identifiable structural features, including a WAP domain, a follistatin/Kazal domain, an immunoglobulin domain, two tandem Kunitz domains, and a netrin domain. Recombinant human GASP-1 is a 542 amino acid protein that migrates at an apparent molecular weight of approximately 55-66 kDa by SDS-PAGE analysis under non-reducing conditions.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the GPRASP (G protein-coupled receptor associated sorting protein) family. The protein may modulate lysosomal sorting and functional down-regulation of a variety of G-protein coupled receptors. It targets receptors for degradation in lysosomes. The receptors interacting with this sorting protein include D2 dopamine receptor (DRD2), delta opioid receptor (OPRD1), beta-2 adrenergic receptor (ADRB2), D4 dopamine receptor (DRD4) and cannabinoid 1 receptor (CB1R). Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

Function: Modulates lysosomal sorting and functional down-regulation of a variety of G-protein coupled receptors. Targets receptors for degradation in lysosomes via its interaction with BECN1P1/BECN2. Ref.5 Ref.6 Ref.8

Subunit structure: Interacts with cytoplasmic tails of a variety of G-protein coupled receptors such as D2 dopamine receptor/DRD2

By similarity, delta opioid receptor/OPRD1, beta-2 adrenergic receptor/ADRB2 and D4 dopamine receptor/DRD4. Interacts with PER1. Interacts with BECN1P1/BECN2; the interaction is direct. Ref.5 Ref.6 Ref.7 Ref.8

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm Ref.6.

Tissue specificity: Expressed in the brain, with lower expression in medulla, spinal cord and substantia nigra. Ref.5 Ref.7

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the GPRASP family.

Sequence caution: The sequence BAA23715.3 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.

Product Notes

The GASP-1 gprasp1 (Catalog #AAA691886) is an Active Protein produced from CHO Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human GASP-1 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: LPPIRYSHAG ICPNDMNPNL WVDAQSTCRR ECETDQECET YEKCCP NVCG TKSCVAARYM DVKGKKGPVG MPKEATCDHF MCLQQGSECD I WDGQPVCKC KDRCEKEPSF TCASDGLTYY NRCYMDAEAC SKGITLA VVT CRYHFTWPNT SPPPPETTMH PTTASPETPE LDMAAPALLN NP VHQSVTMG ETVSFLCDVV GRPRPEITWE KQLEDRENVV MRPNHVRG NV VVTNIAQLVI YNAQLQDAGI YTCTARNVAG VLRADFPLSV VRG HQAAATS ESSPNGTAFP AAECLKPPDS EDCGEEQTRW HFDAQANNC L TFTFGHCHRN LNHFETYEAC MLACMSGPLA ACSLPALQGP CKAY APRWAY NSQTGQCQSF VYGGCEGNGN NFESREACEE SCPFPRGNQR CRACKPRQKL VTSFCRSDFV ILGRVSELTE EPDSGRALVT VDEVL KDEKM GLKFLGQEPL EVTLLHVDWA CPCPNVTVSE MPLIIMGEVD GGMAMLRPDS FVGASSARRV RKLREVMHKK TCDVLKEFLG LH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GASP-1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
