NCBI Description

brain specific isozyme that catalyzed the interconversion of ATP and creatine to ADP and phosphocreatine; may play a role in ATP generation during cerebellar development [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Function: Reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate between ATP and various phosphogens (e.g. creatine phosphate). Creatine kinase isoenzymes play a central role in energy transduction in tissues with large, fluctuating energy demands, such as skeletal muscle, heart, brain and spermatozoa.

Catalytic activity: ATP + creatine = ADP + phosphocreatine.

Subunit structure: Dimer of identical or non-identical chains. With MM being the major form in skeletal muscle and myocardium, MB existing in myocardium, and BB existing in many tissues, especially brain.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm.

Tissue specificity: In the kidney localized primarily in the outer medulla in the thick ascending limb and distal convoluted tubule. Ref.7

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase family.Contains 1 phosphagen kinase C-terminal domain.Contains 1 phosphagen kinase N-terminal domain.

Sequence caution: The sequence AAH87656.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.

Product Notes

The Ckb ckb (Catalog #AAA653774) is an Enzyme produced from Human brain and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Specific methodologies have not been tested using this product. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Ckb ckb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Creatine Kinase BB, Enzyme" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
