Uniprot Description

FBXL11: Histone demethylase that specifically demethylates 'Lys- 36' of histone H3, thereby playing a central role in histone code. Preferentially demethylates dimethylated H3 'Lys-36' residue while it has weak or no activity for mono- and tri-methylated H3 'Lys- 36'. May also recognize and bind to some phosphorylated proteins and promote their ubiquitination and degradation. Required to maintain the heterochromatic state. Associates with centromeres and represses transcription of small non-coding RNAs that are encoded by the clusters of satellite repeats at the centromere. Required to sustain centromeric integrity and genomic stability, particularly during mitosis. Belongs to the JHDM1 histone demethylase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Oxidoreductase; Demethylase; EC 1.14.11.27

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nuclear chromatin; nucleolus; nucleus

Molecular Function: unmethylated CpG binding; zinc ion binding; histone demethylase activity (H3-K36 specific)

Biological Process: establishment and/or maintenance of chromatin architecture; transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; double-strand break repair via nonhomologous end joining

Product Notes

The JHDM1a kdm2a (Catalog #AAA6483849) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The JHDM1a, ID (JmjC domain-containing histone demethylation protein 1A, [Histone-H3]-lysine-36 demethylase 1A, F-box/LRR-repeat protein 11, F-box and leucine-rich repeat protein 11, F-box protein FBL7, F-box protein Lilina, CXXC-type zinc finger protein 8, F reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's JHDM1a can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), FLISA, Western Blot (WB). IHC: 1:10-1:50 FLISA: 1:1,000 WB: 1:50-1:100 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the JHDM1a kdm2a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "JHDM1a, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
