NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein belonging to the RAN-GTPase exportin family that mediates export of tRNA from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. Translocation of tRNA to the cytoplasm occurs once exportin has bound both tRNA and GTP-bound RAN. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

exportin T: Mediates the nuclear export of aminoacylated tRNAs. In the nucleus binds to tRNA and to the GTPase Ran in its active GTP- bound form. Docking of this trimeric complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) is mediated through binding to nucleoporins. Upon transit of a nuclear export complex into the cytoplasm, disassembling of the complex and hydrolysis of Ran-GTP to Ran-GDP (induced by RANBP1 and RANGAP1, respectively) cause release of the tRNA from the export receptor. XPOT then return to the nuclear compartment and mediate another round of transport. The directionality of nuclear export is thought to be conferred by an asymmetric distribution of the GTP- and GDP-bound forms of Ran between the cytoplasm and nucleus. Belongs to the exportin family.

Protein type: Nuclear import; Karyopherin; Nuclear export

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q14.2

Product Notes

The XPOT xpot (Catalog #AAA6475455) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Exportin T, CT (tRNA Exportin, XPOT) (HRP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Exportin T can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:50-1:100 ELISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the XPOT xpot for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Exportin T, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
