Related Product Information for IL4 active protein
Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic alpha-helical cytokine that plays important roles in acute phase reactions, inflammation, hematopoiesis, bone metabolism and cancer progression. IL-6 activity is essential for the transition from acute inflammation to either acquired immunity or chronic inflammatory disease. It is secreted by multiple cell types as a 22kD-28kD phosphorylated and variably glycosylated molecule. IL-6 induces signaling through a cell surface heterodimeric receptor complex composed of a ligand binding subunit (IL-6R) and a signal transducing subunit (gp130). IL-6 is a key factor for the growth of plasma cells.

Uniprot Description

Function: Participates in at least several B-cell activation processes as well as of other cell types. It is a costimulator of DNA-synthesis. It induces the expression of class II MHC molecules on resting B-cells. It enhances both secretion and cell surface expression of IgE and IgG1. It also regulates the expression of the low affinity Fc receptor for IgE (CD23) on both lymphocytes and monocytes

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-4/IL-13 family.

Product Notes

The IL4 il4 (Catalog #AAA636196) is an Active Protein produced from Human, Mouse, HEK 293 cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: The extracellu lar domain of mouse IL-6 (aa 25-211) is fused at the C-terminus to the Fc portion of human IgG2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-6:Fc, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
