NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the urea transporter family. In mammalian cells, urea is the chief end product of nitrogen catabolism, and plays an important role in the urinary concentration mechanism. This protein is expressed in the inner medulla of the kidney, and mediates rapid transepithelial urea transport across the inner medullary collecting duct. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
Uniprot Description
SLC14A2: Specialized low-affinity vasopressin-regulated urea transporter. Mediates rapid transepithelial urea transport across the inner medullary collecting duct and plays a major role in the urinary concentrating mechanism. Belongs to the urea transporter family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The SLC14A2 slc14a2 (Catalog #AAA621227) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Urea Transporter A1 (Slc14a2. Solute carrier family 14 (urea transporter), member 2, Slc14a2T, Solute carrier family 14 member 2, Urea transporter, kidney, Urea transporter 2, UrT1-C, UrT1-D, Ut2) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Urea Transporter A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000. 1ug/ml detected UT-A1 in 20 ug of rat kidney tissue lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using IgG goat x rabbit (HRP) as the secondary antibody. Optimal diluitons to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC14A2 slc14a2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Urea Transporter A1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
