Recombinant mouse CD31 (PECAM-1) is a monomer protein consisting of 585 amino acid residue subunits, due to glycosylation migrates as an approximately 100 kDa protein on SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
Recombinant mouse CD31, as supplied, can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C to -70 degree C for twelve months.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1, also known as CD31, is a member of the Ig gene superfamily expressed at high density at the lateral borders of endothelial cells and at a lower density on the surface of hematopoietic cells including T lymphocytes. By establishing homophilic interactions between endothelium- and leukocyte- expressed CD31, this molecule has been shown to facilitate leukocyte transendothelial migration (TEM) in vitro and in vivo.

The protein encoded by this gene is found on the surface of platelets, monocytes, neutrophils, and some types of T-cells, and makes up a large portion of endothelial cell intercellular junctions. The encoded protein is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is likely involved in leukocyte migration, angiogenesis, and integrin activation. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Undergoes alternative splicing, generating multiple isoforms in vascular beds of various tissues.
