Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human CLK3 isoform b (NP_003983.2) (Met 1-Arg 490) was fused with the GST tag at the N-terminus.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a protein belonging to the serine/threonine type protein kinase family. This protein is a nuclear dual-specificity kinase that regulates the intranuclear distribution of the serine/arginine-rich (SR) family of splicing factors. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Related pseudogenes are located on chromosomes 1 and 9. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
CLK3: a CMGC kinase of the CLK family. Phosphorylates serine- and arginine-rich (SR) proteins of the spliceosomal complex. May play a role in regulating RNA splicing. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described. Isoform 2 is short and lacks the kinase domain. May be produced at very low levels due to a premature stop codon in the mRNA, leading to nonsense-mediated mRNA decay.
Protein type: CLK family; CMGC group; EC 2.7.12.1; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, CMGC; Protein kinase, dual-specificity (non-receptor)
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q24.1
Cellular Component: intermediate filament cytoskeleton; membrane; nucleoplasm; nucleus
Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; protein serine/threonine kinase activity
Biological Process: protein amino acid phosphorylation; regulation of RNA splicing

Product Notes
The CLK3 clk3 (Catalog #AAA2546114) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus-Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human CLK3/GST chimera consists of 714 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 85 kDa. It migrates as an approxiamtely 70 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLK3 clk3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CLK3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
