Related Product Information for anti-CLK3 antibody
The cdc2-like kinase (CLK) family contains at least four highly conserved isoforms CLK1, CLK2, CLK3 and CLK4 (1,2). CLKs are dual specific kinases that have been shown to autophosphorylate on serine, threonine and tyrosine residues and phosphorylate exogenous substrates on serine and threonine residues (2). CLK family members can co-exist as full-length catalytically active forms and an alternatively-spliced truncated inactive form (1). A family of highly phosphorylated proteins, so called serine- and arginine-rich (SR) proteins, have been shown to be phosphorylated by CLKs (3-5). SR proteins are splicing factors that regulate the assembly of the spliceosome, a macromolecular complex where RNA splicing occurs in the nucleus, and selection of splice sites. Thus, CLKs may play important roles in regulating RNA splicing.

CLK3 is abundantly expressed in the testis and, similar to other family members, has been implicated in regulating RNA splicing (6-8).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein belonging to the serine/threonine type protein kinase family. This protein is a nuclear dual-specificity kinase that regulates the intranuclear distribution of the serine/arginine-rich (SR) family of splicing factors. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Related pseudogenes are located on chromosomes 1 and 9. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CLK3: a CMGC kinase of the CLK family. Phosphorylates serine- and arginine-rich (SR) proteins of the spliceosomal complex. May play a role in regulating RNA splicing. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described. Isoform 2 is short and lacks the kinase domain. May be produced at very low levels due to a premature stop codon in the mRNA, leading to nonsense-mediated mRNA decay.

Protein type: EC 2.7.12.1; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, dual-specificity (non-receptor); Protein kinase, CMGC; CMGC group; CLK family

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q24

Product Notes

The CLK3 clk3 (Catalog #AAA617581) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CLK3 (cdc2-like Kinase 3) reacts with Human, Monkey, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CLK3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunocytochemistry and Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLK3 clk3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CLK3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
