NCBI Description

This gene encodes an anti-apoptotic protein, which is a member of the Bcl-2 family. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. The longest gene product (isoform 1) enhances cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis while the alternatively spliced shorter gene products (isoform 2 and isoform 3) promote apoptosis and are death-inducing. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010]

Uniprot Description

Involved in the regulation of apoptosis versus cell survival, and in the maintenance of viability but not of proliferation. Mediates its effects by interactions with a number of other regulators of apoptosis. Isoform 1 inhibits apoptosis. Isoform 2 promotes apoptosis.

Product Notes

The MCL1 mcl1 (Catalog #AAA225494) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mcl-1 Antibody with Control Lysate reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Mcl-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000 Western Blotting: Detects a band of approximately 40 kDa in HeLa cell lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MCL1 mcl1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Mcl-1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
