Rabbit HRK Polyclonal Antibody | anti-HRK antibody

RABBIT ANTI HRK

Gene Names
HRK; DP5; HARAKIRI
Applications
Western Blot
Synonyms
HRK; Polyclonal Antibody; RABBIT ANTI HRK; anti-HRK antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Rabbit
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item detects Harakiri (HRK), also known as DP5. HRK is a BH3 only protein of the Bcl-2 family, which promotes Bax dependent apoptosis. HRK regulates apoptosis through its interaction with the anti-apoptotic proteins Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL, and in conjunction to the mitochondrial pore forming protein p32. HRK is thought to have a specific role in initiating neuronal and haematopoietic cell apoptosis, in particular to growth factor deprivation.
Aberrant methylation of HRK is frequently detected in primary colorectal cancers. Despite its predicted molecular weight, HRK often migrates at 12-15kD.

Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 13kDa in mouse pancreas tissue lysate.
Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 2; Maximum Dilution: 5ug/ml
Perservative Stabilisers
0.02% Sodium Azide
Immunogen
15 amino acid peptide from near the centre of human HRK (NP_003797).
Buffer Solution
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to HRK were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the BCL-2 protein family. Members of this family are involved in activating or inhibiting apoptosis. The encoded protein localizes to intracellular membranes. This protein promotes apoptosis by interacting with the apoptotic inhibitors BCL-2 and BCL-X(L) via its BH3 domain. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2012]

Uniprot Description

HRK: Promotes apoptosis.

Protein type: Apoptosis; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q24.22

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of protein homooligomerization; apoptosis; positive regulation of apoptosis

Product Notes

The HRK hrk (Catalog #AAA223071) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's HRK can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 13kDa in mouse pancreas tissue lysate. Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 2; Maximum Dilution: 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HRK hrk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HRK, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
