NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that is upregulated during apoptosis where it translocates rapidly from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. The encoded protein may be an important regulator of K(lysine) acetyltransferase 5 (a protein involved in transcription, DNA damage response and cell cycle control) by inhibiting its proteasome-dependent degradation. Pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 5 and 12 [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

Uniprot Description

PDCD5: May function in the process of apoptosis. Belongs to the PDCD5 family.

Protein type: Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.11

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; extracellular exosome; nucleus

Molecular Function: acetyltransferase activator activity; beta-tubulin binding; DNA binding; heparin binding; protein binding

Biological Process: apoptosis; cellular response to transforming growth factor beta stimulus; negative regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of apoptosis; positive regulation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in apoptotic process; positive regulation of gene expression; positive regulation of release of cytochrome c from mitochondria

Product Notes

The PDCD5 pdcd5 (Catalog #AAA2026079) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Programmed Cell Death Protein 5 (PDCD5) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Programmed Cell Death Protein 5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 0.5-2ug/mL Immunohistochemistry: 5-20ug/mL Immunocytochemistry: 5-20ug/mL Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PDCD5 pdcd5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Programmed Cell Death Protein 5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
