NCBI Description

zinc-containing metallo-enzyme; involved in degradation of cardiac peptides [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

CD10: Thermolysin-like specificity, but is almost confined on acting on polypeptides of up to 30 amino acids. Biologically important in the destruction of opioid peptides such as Met- and Leu-enkephalins by cleavage of a Gly-Phe bond. Able to cleave angiotensin-1, angiotensin-2 and angiotensin 1-9. Involved in the degradation of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF). Displays UV- inducible elastase activity toward skin preelastic and elastic fibers. Inhibited in a dose dependent manner by opiorphin. Belongs to the peptidase M13 family.

Protein type: EC 3.4.24.11; Membrane protein, integral; Protease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q31

Cellular Component: axon; brush border; cytoplasm; dendrite; focal adhesion; integral component of membrane; membrane; plasma membrane; synapse; synaptic vesicle

Molecular Function: endopeptidase activity; exopeptidase activity; metalloendopeptidase activity; metallopeptidase activity; peptidase activity; peptide binding; zinc ion binding

Product Notes

The NEP mme (Catalog #AAA2003782) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Neprilysin (NEP) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Neprilysin (NEP) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) - Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western blotting: 1:100-400 Immunocytochemistry in formalin fixed cells: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in paraffin section: 1:50-200 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NEP mme for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Antigen: The target protein is fused with N-terminal His-Tag and its sequence is listed below. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Neprilysin (NEP), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
