Related Product Information for anti-BNIP3L antibody
Members in the Bcl-2 family are critical regulators of apoptosis by either inhibiting or promoting cell death. Bcl-2 homology 3 (BH3) domain is a potent death domain, and BH3 domain-containing pro-apoptotic proteins (such as Bad, Bax, Bid, Bik, and Hrk) form a growing subclass of the Bcl-2 family. A novel BH3 domain-containing protein was recently identified and designated Bnip3L, Bnip3 alpha , or Nix. Bnip3L is a homolog of the E1B 19K/Bcl-2 binding and pro-apoptotic protein Bnip3. Overexpression of Bnip3L induces apoptosis. Bnip3L interacts with and overcomes suppression by Bcl-2 and BclxL. Bnip3L is localized in mito-chondria. The messenger RNA of Bnip3L is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues. Bnip3L and Bnip3 form a new subfamily of the pro-apoptotic-mitochondrial proteins.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kd-interacting protein (BNIP) family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein, which protects cells from virally-induced cell death. The encoded protein also interacts with E1B 19 kDa-like sequences of BCL2, another apoptotic protector. This protein counteracts the apoptotic inducer BNIP3 and may play a role in tumor suppression. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

BNIP3L: Induces apoptosis. Interacts with viral and cellular anti-apoptosis proteins. Can overcome the suppressors BCL-2 and BCL-XL, although high levels of BCL-XL expression will inhibit apoptosis. Inhibits apoptosis induced by BNIP3. Involved in mitochondrial quality control via its interaction with SPATA18/MIEAP: in response to mitochondrial damage, participates to mitochondrial protein catabolic process (also named MALM) leading to the degradation of damaged proteins inside mitochondria. May function as a tumor suppressor. Self-associates. Interacts with BNIP3 and STEAP3. Interacts with SPATA18/MIEAP. Interacts with human adenovirus-2 E1B 19 kDa protein. Belongs to the NIP3 family.

Product Notes

The BNIP3L bnip3l (Catalog #AAA194037) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Bnip3L (IN) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot. Immunoblotting: use at 0.5-1.0 ug/ml. Positive control: Whole cell lysate of human K562 cells. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BNIP3L bnip3l for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bnip3L (IN), Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
