MyBioSource is the leading producer and supplier of Human Pepsinogen II/C antigen as a stomach gastric cancer marker for medical research, clinical and manufacturing.

Custom preparations, technical support, bulk quantities and aliquoting available.

Human Pepsinogens are aspartic proteases produced in the gastric mucosa and secreted into the gastric lumen that play a major role in the digestion of porteins after activation of acidic pH. Pepsinogen is synthesized as isoymogens and are classified into two groups, I and II.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an aspartic proteinase that belongs to the peptidase family A1. The encoded protein is a digestive enzyme that is produced in the stomach and constitutes a major component of the gastric mucosa. This protein is also secreted into the serum. This protein is synthesized as an inactive zymogen that includes a highly basic prosegment. This enzyme is converted into its active mature form at low pH by sequential cleavage of the prosegment that is carried out by the enzyme itself. Polymorphisms in this gene are associated with susceptibility to gastric cancers. Serum levels of this enzyme are used as a biomarker for certain gastric diseases including Helicobacter pylori related gastritis. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 1. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

Product Notes

The PGC pgc (Catalog #AAA173574) is an Active Protein produced from Human gastric mucosa and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Pepsinogen II can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PGC pgc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Pepsinogen II, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
