Related Product Information for VIPR2 recombinant protein
Background: VIP and PACAP receptor 2, or VIPR2 encodes the VPAC2 receptor, which binds both VIP and PACAP. VPAC2 is expressed throughout the central nervous system and the periphery. Mutations in the VIPR2 homolog in the mouse cause hypoactivity, as well as disruptions in circadian rhythm. Duplications of the neuropeptide receptor gene VIPR2 confer significant risk for schizophrenia.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a receptor for vasoactive intestinal peptide, a small neuropeptide. Vasoactive intestinal peptide is involved in smooth muscle relaxation, exocrine and endocrine secretion, and water and ion flux in lung and intestinal epithelia. Its actions are effected through integral membrane receptors associated with a guanine nucleotide binding protein which activates adenylate cyclase. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

VIPR2: This is a receptor for VIP as well as PACAP-38 and -27, the activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. Can be coupled to phospholipase C. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Receptor, GPCR; GPCR, family 2; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q36.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; cell-cell signaling; negative regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; adenylate cyclase activation; signal transduction

Product Notes

The VIPR2 vipr2 (Catalog #AAA8121619) is a Recombinant Protein produced from HEK293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-Val12 6. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VPAC2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
