Preparation and Storage
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.

Related Product Information for VIP elisa kit
This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific to Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) has been pre-coated onto a microplate. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between biotin labeled Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) and unlabeled Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) (Standards or samples) with the pre-coated antibody specific to Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP). After incubation the unbound conjugate is washed off. Next, avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. The amount of bound HRP conjugate is reverse proportional to the concentration of Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) in the sample. After addition of the substrate solution, the intensity of color developed is reverse proportional to the concentration of Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) in the sample.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the glucagon family. It stimulates myocardial contractility, causes vasodilation, increases glycogenolysis, lowers arterial blood pressure and relaxes the smooth muscle of trachea, stomach and gall bladder. The protein also acts as an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial and antifungal activity. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

VIP: VIP causes vasodilation, lowers arterial blood pressure, stimulates myocardial contractility, increases glycogenolysis and relaxes the smooth muscle of trachea, stomach and gall bladder. Belongs to the glucagon family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Bovine VIP vip (Catalog #AAA2031992) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2031992 ELISA Kit recognizes Bovine VIP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
