Related Product Information for VCL recombinant protein
Background: Vinculin (VCL) is a cytoskeletal protein that is closely related to both cell-matrix interactions and cell-cell junctions. VCL is a membrane-cytoskeletal protein in focal adhesion plaques that is involved in linkage of integrin adhesion molecules to the actin cytoskeleton. The protein contains an acidic N-terminal domain and a basic C-terminal domain separated by a proline-rich middle segment. This protein has multi-ligand properties and has been found to interact with a number of microfilament associated proteins, such as talin, a-actinin, and paxillin, which reportedly bind to either the head or tail domains of vinculin.

Uniprot Description

Vinculin: Actin filament (F-actin)-binding protein involved in cell-matrix adhesion and cell-cell adhesion. Regulates cell- surface E-cadherin expression and potentiates mechanosensing by the E-cadherin complex. May also play important roles in cell morphology and locomotion. Exhibits self-association properties. Interacts with NRAP and SORBS1. Interacts with TLN1. Interacts with SYNM. Interacts with CTNNB1 and this interaction is necessary for its localization to the cell-cell junctions and for its function in regulating cell surface expression of E-cadherin. Metavinculin is muscle-specific. Belongs to the vinculin/alpha-catenin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The VCL vcl (Catalog #AAA8122980) is a Recombinant Protein produced from HEK293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-Gln10 66. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vinculin, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
