NCBI Description

a netrin receptor involved in neuronal migration [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

UNC5B: Receptor for netrin required for axon guidance. Mediates axon repulsion of neuronal growth cones in the developing nervous system upon ligand binding. Axon repulsion in growth cones may be caused by its association with DCC that may trigger signaling for repulsion. It also acts as a dependence receptor required for apoptosis induction when not associated with netrin ligand. Mediates apoptosis by activating DAPK1. In the absence of NTN1, activates DAPK1 by reducing its autoinhibitory phosphorylation at Ser-308 thereby increasing its catalytic activity. Belongs to the unc-5 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q11

Cellular Component: lipid raft; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: netrin receptor activity; protein binding

Biological Process: anterior/posterior axon guidance; axon guidance; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; positive regulation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase cascade

Product Notes

The UNC5B / UNC5H2 unc5b (Catalog #AAA2547477) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant rat UNC5B/Fc is a disulfide-linked homodimer. The reduced monomer comprises 588 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 65.7 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 72-90 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions due to glycosylation. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the UNC5B / UNC5H2 unc5b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "UNC5B / UNC5H2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
