Related Product Information for ubc9 recombinant protein
Human ubc9 is homologous to ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s). However, instead of conjugating ubiquitin, it conjugates a ubiquitin homologue, small ubiquitin-like modifier 1 (SuMO-1). And hubc9 retains striking structural and functional conservation with yeast ubc9. The ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation system has been recognized as a complete enzymatic pathway that is responsible for the selective degradation of abnormal and short-lived proteins. The conjugation of ubiquitin reuires the activities of ubiquitin-activating (E1) and -conjugating (E2) enzymes.

NCBI Description

The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s. This gene encodes a member of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Accepts the ubiquitin-like proteins SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3 and SUMO4 from the UBLE1A-UBLE1B E1 complex and catalyzes their covalent attachment to other proteins with the help of an E3 ligase such as RANBP2, CBX4 and ZNF451. Can catalyze the formation of poly-SUMO chains. Necessary for sumoylation of FOXL2 and KAT5. Essential for nuclear architecture and chromosome segregation. Sumoylates p53/TP53 at 'Lys-386'.

Product Notes

The ubc9 ube2i (Catalog #AAA203069) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ubc9 (Human ubiquitin conjugating enzyme 9) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ubc9 ube2i for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MSGIALSRLA QERKAWRKDH PFGFVAVPTK NPDGTMNLMN WECAIPGKKG TPWEGGLFKL RMLFKDDYPS SPPKCKFEPP LFHPNVYPSG TVCLSILEED KDWRPAITIK QILLGIQELL NEPNIQDPAQ AEAYTIYCQN RVEYEKRVRA QAKKFAPS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ubc9 (Human ubiquitin conjugating enzyme 9), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
