Related Product Information for TRPV1 protein
VR1 (vanilloid receptor 1) is an ion channel activated by capsaicin, the pungent ingredient in hot peppers, and by noxious thermal heat. It is expressed by and isolated from nociceptive sensory neurons. Sequence analysis suggests that VR1 has transmembrane domains and intracellular N- and C-termini. It shares structural similarities with the family of putative store-operated calcium channels. It is thought to function as a transducer of noxious thermal stimuli and have involvement in inflammatory pain.

NCBI Description

Capsaicin, the main pungent ingredient in hot chili peppers, elicits a sensation of burning pain by selectively activating sensory neurons that convey information about noxious stimuli to the central nervous system. The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for capsaicin and is a non-selective cation channel that is structurally related to members of the TRP family of ion channels. This receptor is also activated by increases in temperature in the noxious range, suggesting that it functions as a transducer of painful thermal stimuli in vivo. Four transcript variants encoding the same protein, but with different 5' UTR sequence, have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TRPV1: a receptor for capsaicin and a non-selective cation channel that is structurally related to members of the TRP family of ion channels. Activated by increases in temperature in the noxious range, suggesting that it functions as a transducer of painful thermal stimuli in vivo.

Product Notes

The TRPV1 trpv1 (Catalog #AAA634606) is a Protein produced from Synthetic peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Capsaicin receptor (Vanilloid Receptor 1, VR1) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Capsaicin receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in ELISA and Antibody Blocking. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TRPV1 trpv1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: YTGSLKPEDA EVFKDSMVPG EK. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Capsaicin receptor, Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
