NCBI Description

UNC5A belongs to a family of netrin-1 (MIM 601614) receptors thought to mediate the chemorepulsive effect of netrin-1 on specific axons. For more information on UNC5 proteins, see UNC5C (MIM 603610).[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004]

Uniprot Description

UNC5A: Receptor for netrin required for axon guidance. Mediates axon repulsion of neuronal growth cones in the developing nervous system upon ligand binding. Axon repulsion in growth cones may be caused by its association with DCC that may trigger signaling for repulsion. It also acts as a dependence receptor required for apoptosis induction when not associated with netrin ligand. Belongs to the unc-5 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell development/differentiation; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q35.2

Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Biological Process: axon guidance; positive regulation of apoptosis; anterior/posterior axon guidance

Product Notes

The UNC5A unc5a (Catalog #AAA8215291) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The UNC5A Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's UNC5A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the UNC5A unc5a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "UNC5A, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
