NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the membrane-bound adenylyl cyclase enzymes. Adenylyl cyclases mediate G protein-coupled receptor signaling through the synthesis of the second messenger cAMP. Activity of the encoded protein is stimulated by the Gs alpha subunit of G protein-coupled receptors and is inhibited by protein kinase A, calcium and Gi alpha subunits. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with low birth weight and type 2 diabetes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

Uniprot Description

ADCY5: This is a membrane-bound, calcium-inhibitable adenylyl cyclase. Belongs to the adenylyl cyclase class-4/guanylyl cyclase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ADCY5 adcy5 (Catalog #AAA822660) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Adenylate Cyclase 5/6 Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Monkey, Rabbit, Zebrafish and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Adenylate Cyclase 5/6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Blocking Peptide to the diluted primary antibody in a molar ratio of 10:1 (peptide to antibody) and incubate the mixture at 4 degree C for overnight or at room temperature for 2 hours. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ADCY5 adcy5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Adenylate Cyclase 5/6, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
