Protein scarlet (st) Recombinant Protein | st recombinant protein
Recombinant Drosophila melanogaster Protein scarlet (st)
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
Function: Part of a membrane-spanning permease system necessary for the transport of pigment precursors into pigment cells responsible for eye color. Scarlet and white complex transports a metabolic intermediate (such as 3-hydroxy kynurenine) from the cytoplasm into the pigment granules. Ref.5 Ref.6
Subunit structure: Heterodimer of scarlet with white. Ref.5
Subcellular location: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cytoplasmic granule membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Note: Pigment granules within pigment cells and retinula cells of the compound eye. Ref.6
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the ABC transporter superfamily. ABCG family. Eye pigment precursor importer (TC 3.A.1.204) subfamily. [View classification]Contains 1 ABC transporter domain.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Protein scarlet (st), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
