Sheep Aflatoxin B1 aldehyde reductase member 4 (AKR7L) ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: AKR7L ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a Polyclonal anti-AKR7L antibody and an AKR7L-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with AKR7L-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the AKR7L concentration since AKR7L from samples and AKR7L-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-AKR7L antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by AKR7L from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind AKR7L-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The AKR7L concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene is one of three aldo-keto reductase genes that are present in a cluster on the p arm of chromosome 1. The encoded proteins are involved in the reduction of the dialdehyde protein-binding form of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to the non-binding AFB1 dialcohol. It has been speculated that this family member encodes a selenoprotein, which includes a selenocysteine (Sec) residue in lieu of a UGA translational termination codon. However, there is no evidence that such a protein is produced in vivo. The alternative interpretation is that this family member is a duplicated pseudogene, and it is therefore represented as such in this Gene record. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]
Uniprot Description
AKR7A4: Can reduce the dialdehyde protein-binding form of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to the non-binding AFB1 dialcohol. May be involved in protection of liver against the toxic and carcinogenic effects of AFB1, a potent hepatocarcinogen. Belongs to the aldo/keto reductase family. Aldo/keto reductase 2 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The Sheep AKR7L akr7l (Catalog #AAA7204047) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7204047 ELISA Kit recognizes Sheep AKR7L. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aflatoxin B1 aldehyde reductase member 4 (AKR7L), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
