Uniprot Description
14-3-3 sigma: Adapter protein implicated in the regulation of a large spectrum of both general and specialized signaling pathways. Binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner. When bound to KRT17, regulates protein synthesis and epithelial cell growth by stimulating Akt/mTOR pathway. Homodimer. Interacts with KRT17 and SAMSN1. Found in a complex with XPO7, EIF4A1, ARHGAP1, VPS26A, VPS29, VPS35 and SFN. Interacts with GAB2. Interacts with SRPK2. Present mainly in tissues enriched in stratified squamous keratinizing epithelium. Belongs to the 14-3-3 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Adaptor/scaffold
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4 D2.3|4 66.25 cM
Cellular Component: cell-cell adherens junction; cytoplasm; nucleus
Molecular Function: phosphoprotein binding; protein binding; protein kinase binding

Product Notes
The 14-3-3 sigma sfn (Catalog #AAA2546904) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant mouse SFN consists of 250 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 27.7 kDa. It migrates as an approximately 32 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the 14-3-3 sigma sfn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "14-3-3 sigma / Stratifin / YWHAS, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
