Related Product Information for Fibroblast Activation Protein active protein
Human FAP (GenBank Accession No. NM_004460), (aa29-end) with C-terminal His tag, expressed in a Baculovirus infected Sf9 cell expression system.

Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP) is a cell surface glycoprotein of reactive human fibroblasts. Among the normal adult organs tested, F4208-50H does not show immunoreactivity in immunohistological studies with either resting fibroblasts (fibrocytes) of the normal origin mesenchyme or the parenchymal cells. The single exception noted is a subset of endocrine cells in the pancreatic islets, presumably glucagon-producing A cells.

Uniprot Description

FAP: In association with DPP4 is involved in the pericellular proteolysis of the extracellular matrix (ECM), the migration and invasion of endothelial cells into the ECM. May have a role in tissue remodeling during development and wound healing, and may contribute to invasiveness in malignant cancers. Belongs to the peptidase S9B family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.4.21.26; Membrane protein, integral; EC 3.4.14.5; Protease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q23

Cellular Component: extracellular space; focal adhesion; cell surface; lamellipodium; apical part of cell; cytoplasm; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: peptidase activity; integrin binding; protein dimerization activity; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; protease binding; serine-type peptidase activity; dipeptidyl-peptidase activity; metalloendopeptidase activity; serine-type endopeptidase activity; endopeptidase activity

Product Notes

The Fibroblast Activation Protein (Catalog #AAA636509) is an Active Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Suitable for use in the study of enzyme kinetics, screening inhibitors and selectivity profiling. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Fibroblast Activation Protein for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fibroblast Activation Protein, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
