Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for ROMO1 elisa kit
Description: This Rat Reactive oxygen species modulator 1 (ROMO1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate ROMO1 in samples. An antibody specific for ROMO1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any ROMO1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ROMO1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ROMO1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: The main source of ROS is known to be the mitochondria, and increased levels of ROS from the mitochondria have been observed in many cancer cells. Thus far, the mechanism of ROS production in cancer cell proliferation in the mitochondria is not well-understood. Romo1 increased expression of Romo1-triggered ROS production in the mitochondria. The experiments conducted in the present study showed that Romo1-derived ROS were indispensable for the proliferation of both normal and cancer cells. Furthermore, whilst cell growth was inhibited by blocking the ERK pathway in cells transfected with siRNA directed against Romo1, the cell growth was recovered by addition of exogenous hydrogen peroxide. The results of this study suggest that Romo1-induced ROS may play an important role in redox signaling in cancer cells.

Uniprot Description

ROMO1: Induces production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are necessary for cell proliferation. May play a role in inducing oxidative DNA damage and replicative senescence. May play a role in the coordination of mitochondrial morphology and cell proliferation. Belongs to the MGR2 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell cycle regulation; Membrane protein, integral; Mitochondrial

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q11.22

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; mitochondrial inner membrane; integral to membrane

Biological Process: positive regulation of cell proliferation; defense response to bacterium; replicative cell aging

Product Notes

The Rat ROMO1 romo1 (Catalog #AAA9712669) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9712669 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat ROMO1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Reactive Oxygen Species Modulator 1 (ROMO1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
