Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Proto-oncogene c-Fos. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated polyclonal antibody preparation specific for Proto-oncogene c-Fos and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Proto-oncogene c-Fos, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm. The concentration of Proto-oncogene c-Fos in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
an immediate early gene encoding a nuclear protein involved in signal transduction [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
Fos: a proto-oncogenic transcription factor of the bZIP family. Dimerizes with proteins of the JUN family, thereby forming the transcription factor complex AP-1. FOS proteins function as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. In some cases, expression of FOS has also been associated with apoptotic cell death. Expression increases upon a variety of stimuli, including growth factors, cytokines, neurotransmitters, polypeptide hormones, stress and cell injury.

Product Notes
The Rat Fos fos (Catalog #AAA9426978) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9426978 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat Fos. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Proto-oncogene c-Fos, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
