Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Glucokinase (also known as GCK) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat GCK antibody. GCK present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat GCK Antibody is added and binds to GCK in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GCK antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat GCK. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description
This gene encodes a secreted ligand of the TGF-beta (transforming growth factor-beta) superfamily of proteins. Ligands of this family bind various TGF-beta receptors leading to recruitment and activation of SMAD family transcription factors that regulate gene expression. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate each subunit of the disulfide-linked homodimer. This protein negatively regulates skeletal muscle cell proliferation and differentiation. Mutations in this gene are associated with increased skeletal muscle mass in humans and other mammals.
