Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Endothelium Selectin (also known as E-Selectin) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat E-Selectin antibody. E-Selectin present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat E-Selectin Antibody is added and binds to E-Selectin in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated E-Selectin antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat E-Selectin. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is found in cytokine-stimulated endothelial cells and is thought to be responsible for the accumulation of blood leukocytes at sites of inflammation by mediating the adhesion of cells to the vascular lining. It exhibits structural features such as the presence of lectin- and EGF-like domains followed by short consensus repeat (SCR) domains that contain 6 conserved cysteine residues. These proteins are part of the selectin family of cell adhesion molecules. Adhesion molecules participate in the interaction between leukocytes and the endothelium and appear to be involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Cell-surface glycoprotein having a role in immunoadhesion. Mediates in the adhesion of blood neutrophils in cytokine-activated endothelium through interaction with SELPLG/PSGL1. May have a role in capillary morphogenesis.

Product Notes

The Rat SELE sele (Catalog #AAA162849) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA162849 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat SELE. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "endothelium Selectin, E-Selectin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
