Related Product Information for cath-K elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Cathepsin K (also known as cath-K) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat cath-K antibody. cath-K present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat cath-K Antibody is added and binds to cath-K in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated cath-K antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat cath-K. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase involved in bone remodeling and resorption. This protein, which is a member of the peptidase C1 protein family, is predominantly expressed in osteoclasts. However, the encoded protein is also expressed in a significant fraction of human breast cancers, where it could contribute to tumor invasiveness. Mutations in this gene are the cause of pycnodysostosis, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by osteosclerosis and short stature. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2013]

Uniprot Description

Closely involved in osteoclastic bone resorption and may participate partially in the disorder of bone remodeling. Displays potent endoprotease activity against fibrinogen at acid pH. May play an important role in extracellular matrix degradation.

Product Notes

The Rat cath-K ctsk (Catalog #AAA161120) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA161120 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat cath-K. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cathepsin K, cath-K, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
