Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rabbit Urokinase-type Plasminogen Activator (also known as uPA/PLAU) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rabbit uPA/PLAU antibody. uPA/PLAU present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rabbit uPA/PLAU Antibody is added and binds to uPA/PLAU in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated uPA/PLAU antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rabbit uPA/PLAU. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a secreted serine protease that converts plasminogen to plasmin. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate A and B polypeptide chains. These chains associate via a single disulfide bond to form the catalytically inactive high molecular weight urokinase-type plasminogen activator (HMW-uPA). HMW-uPA can be further processed into the catalytically active low molecular weight urokinase-type plasminogen activator (LMW-uPA). This low molecular weight form does not bind to the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor. Mutations in this gene may be associated with Quebec platelet disorder and late-onset Alzheimer's disease. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes an isoform that is proteolytically processed. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

Uniprot Description

Specifically cleaves the zymogen plasminogen to form the active enzyme plasmin.

Product Notes

The Rabbit PLAU plau (Catalog #AAA1601607) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA1601607 ELISA Kit recognizes Rabbit PLAU. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA, PLAU), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
