Related Product Information for PSPN recombinant protein
Recombinant Human Persephin (PSPN) was expressed in E Coli cells. The protein accession number is O60542
Persephin is a disulfide-linked homodimeric neurotrophic factor belonging to the Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily and the GDNF sub-family. One cysteine residue, out of the seven conserved, is used for inter-chain disulfide bridging while the others form a cysteine knot ring formation. It signals through RET and one of the four GFR-alpha (alpha-1, alpha-2, alpha-3, alpha-4) receptors to promote the proper development and maintenance of the nervous system. Persephin promotes survival of dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain as well as some motor neurons, and promotes branching of ureteric buds.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a neurotrophic factor, belonging to the GDNF family. Neurotrophic factors are important for the proper development and maintenance of the nervous system. These factors promote neuronal survival and can prevent the neuronal degeneration associated with injury, toxin exposure, or neurodegenerative disease. The encoded protein has amino acid similarity to its other family members, glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor and neurturin. This gene product promotes the survival of ventral midbrain dopaminergic neurons in culture and prevents their degeneration after 6-hydroxydopamine treatment in vivo. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The PSPN pspn (Catalog #AAA517484) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Persephin (PSPN) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Cell Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PSPN pspn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Persephin (PSPN), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
