NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein containing eight C2H2-type zinc fingers and a BTB domain. Expression of this gene is induced by bone morphogenetic protein-2 signaling. Mutation of the related gene in humans causes immunodeficiency-centromeric instability-facial anomalies syndrome-2. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2013]

Uniprot Description

ZBTB24: May be involved in BMP2-induced transcription. Defects in ZBTB24 are the cause of immunodeficiency- centromeric instability-facial anomalies syndrome type 2 (ICF2). A rare disorder characterized by a variable immunodeficiency resulting in recurrent infections, facial anomalies, and branching of chromosomes 1, 9, and 16. Other variable symptoms include growth retardation, failure to thrive, and psychomotor retardation. Laboratory studies show limited hypomethylation of DNA in a small fraction of the genome in some, but not all, patients. Belongs to the krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: C2H2-type zinc finger protein

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: nucleic acid binding; DNA binding; metal ion binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; transcription, DNA-dependent; hemopoietic progenitor cell differentiation

Product Notes

The ZBTB24 zbtb24 (Catalog #AAA248998) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat Polyclonal to Human ZBTB24 / BIF1 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ZBTB24 / BIF1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). ELISA (1:8000), IHC-P (5 ug/ml), WB (1 - 3 ug/ml) Usage: Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:8000. Western blot: Approx 80kD band observed in lysates of cell line Daudi (calculated MW of 78.3kD according to NP_055612.2). Recommended concentration: 1-3 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ZBTB24 zbtb24 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ZBTB24 / BIF1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
