Uniprot Description

WEE1B: a protein kinase of the WEE family expressed only in oocytes. Downregulation by RNAi causes a leaky meiotic arrest. The inhibitory effects of the kinase are enhanced when Ser15 is phosphorylated. Appears to be a key MPF inhibitory kinase in mouse oocytes and is required for maintaining meiotic arrest.
