NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
C6ORF55 encodes a protein involved in trafficking of the multivesicular body, an endosomal compartment involved in sorting membrane proteins for degradation in lysosomes (Ward et al., 2005 [PubMed 15644320]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Uniprot Description
VTA1: Involved in the endosomal multivesicular bodies (MVB) pathway. MVBs contain intraluminal vesicles (ILVs) that are generated by invagination and scission from the limiting membrane of the endosome and mostly are delivered to lysosomes enabling degradation of membrane proteins, such as stimulated growth factor receptors, lysosomal enzymes and lipids. Thought to be a cofactor of VPS4A/B, which catalyzes disassembles membrane-associated ESCRT-III assemblies. Involved in the sorting and down-regulation of EGFR. Involved in HIV-1 budding. Belongs to the VTA1 family.
Protein type: Unknown function
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q24.1
Cellular Component: endosome membrane; cytosol
Molecular Function: protein binding
Biological Process: protein transport; viral reproduction; viral infectious cycle; endosome transport

Product Notes
The VTA1 vta1 (Catalog #AAA8103734) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-VTA1 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human Predicted to React with: Pongo abelii (Species predicted to react based on 100% sequence homology) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VTA1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:500-1:2000 ICC/IF: 1:100-1:500 IP: 5-10uL/mg of lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VTA1 vta1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VTA1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
