NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes for a protein that in yeast forms part of a trimeric vacuolar-protein-sorting complex that is required for retrograde transport of proteins from prevacuoles to the late Golgi compartment. As in yeast, mammalian Vps54 proteins contain a coiled-coil region and dileucine motifs. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
VPS54: May be involved in retrograde transport from early and late endosomes to the late Golgi. The GARP complex is required for the maintenance of the cycling of mannose 6-phosphate receptors between the TGN and endosomes, this cycling is necessary for proper lysosomal sorting of acid hydrolases such as CTSD. Belongs to the VPS54 family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Vesicle
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p13-p14
Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; Golgi apparatus; perinuclear region of cytoplasm
Molecular Function: protein binding; syntaxin binding
Biological Process: protein transport; neurofilament cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis; homeostasis of number of cells within a tissue; Golgi to vacuole transport; musculoskeletal movement; retrograde transport, endosome to Golgi; growth

Product Notes
The VPS54 vps54 (Catalog #AAA9211570) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 465-491. The VPS54 Antibody (Center) reacts with Mouse (Predicted Reactivity: Rat) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VPS54 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VPS54 vps54 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VPS54, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
