Uniprot Description

TRIM72: Muscle-specific protein that plays a central role in cell membrane repair by nucleating the assembly of the repair machinery at injury sites. Specifically binds phosphatidylserine. Acts as a sensor of oxidation: upon membrane damage, entry of extracellular oxidative environment results in disulfide bond formation and homooligomerization at the injury site. This oligomerization acts as a nucleation site for recruitment of TRIM72-containing vesicles to the injury site, leading to membrane patch formation. Probably acts upstream of the Ca(2+)-dependent membrane resealing process. Required for transport of DYSF to sites of cell injury during repair patch formation. Regulates membrane budding and exocytosis. May be involved in the regulation of the mobility of KCNB1-containing endocytic vesicles. Belongs to the TRIM/RBCC family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Ubiquitin ligase; Ubiquitin conjugating system

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p11.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasmic vesicle membrane; sarcolemma

Molecular Function: phosphatidylserine binding; protein binding; ubiquitin conjugating enzyme binding; zinc ion binding

Biological Process: exocytosis; muscle contraction; muscle development; muscle system process; negative regulation of insulin receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of insulin-like growth factor receptor signaling pathway; plasma membrane repair; proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; protein homooligomerization; protein ubiquitination

Product Notes

The TRIM72 trim72 (Catalog #AAA8242428) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-TRIM72 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TRIM72 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western Blot: (1/1000 - 1/2000); Immunohistochemistry: (1/200 - 1/500). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TRIM72 trim72 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TRIM72, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
