NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the TRIM protein family. It has multiple zinc finger motifs and a leucine zipper motif. It has been proposed to form homo- or heterodimers which are involved in nucleic acid binding. Thus, it may act as a transcriptional regulatory factor involved in carcinogenesis and/or differentiation. It may also function in the suppression of radiosensitivity since it is associated with ataxia telangiectasia phenotype. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
TRIM29: It is able to complement the radiosensitivity defect of an ataxia telangiectasia (AT) fibroblast cell line. Interacts with VIM and HINT1. Expressed in placenta, prostate and thymus. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Transcription factor
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q23.3
Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; intermediate filament cytoskeleton; cytoplasm
Molecular Function: protein binding; zinc ion binding; p53 binding; transcription factor activity
Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TRIM29 trim29 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TRIM29, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
