Subunit Structure
Forms part of the preprotein translocase complex of the outer mitochondrial membrane (TOM complex) which consists of at least 7 different proteins (TOMM5, TOMM6, TOMM7, TOMM20, TOMM22, TOMM40 and TOMM70). Interacts with TOMM40. Interacts with PPP2R2B (By similarity).
Similarity
Requires the transmembrane domain (TMD), a short segment (the import sequence) in the cytoplasmic domain localizing separately from the TMD and the C-tail signal in the C-terminal domain for efficient targeting and integration into the TOM complex (By similarity). The N-terminal domain (residues 1-62) is important for binding to the unfolded mature imported proteins. Residues (49-71) of the cytoplasmic domain interacts with TOMM20 while the C-terminal segment (residues 63-82) binds presequence of preproteins.Belongs to the Tom22 family.
Subcellular Location
Mitochondrion outer membrane>Single-pass membrane protein.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
Related Product Information for anti-TOMM22 antibody
Central receptor component of the translocase of the outer membrane of mitochondria (TOM complex) responsible for the recognition and translocation of cytosolically synthesized mitochondrial preproteins. Together with the peripheral receptor TOM20 functions as the transit peptide receptor and facilitates the movement of preproteins into the translocation pore. Required for the translocation across the mitochondrial outer membrane of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (By similarity).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is an integral membrane protein of the mitochondrial outer membrane. The encoded protein interacts with TOMM20 and TOMM40, and forms a complex with several other proteins to import cytosolic preproteins into the mitochondrion. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TOMM22: Central receptor component of the translocase of the outer membrane of mitochondria (TOM complex) responsible for the recognition and translocation of cytosolically synthesized mitochondrial preproteins. Together with the peripheral receptor TOM20 functions as the transit peptide receptor and facilitates the movement of preproteins into the translocation pore. Belongs to the Tom22 family.

Product Notes

The TOMM22 tomm22 (Catalog #AAA9612599) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Phospho-TOMM22 (Ser43) Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TOMM22 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA). Peptide ELISA: 1:20,000-1:40,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TOMM22 tomm22 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TOMM22, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
