NCBI Description

Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is an autosomal recessive dermatosis characterized by abnormal susceptibility to human papillomaviruses (HPVs) and a high rate of progression to squamous cell carcinoma on sun-exposed skin. EV is caused by mutations in either of two adjacent genes located on chromosome 17q25.3. Both of these genes encode integral membrane proteins that localize to the endoplasmic reticulum and are predicted to form transmembrane channels. This gene encodes a transmembrane channel-like protein with 10 transmembrane domains and 2 leucine zipper motifs. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TMC6: Defects in TMC6 are a cause of epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV). It is a rare autosomal recessive genodermatosis associated with a high risk of skin carcinoma that results from an abnormal susceptibility to infection by specific human papillomaviruses. Infection leads to persistent wart-like or macular lesions. Belongs to the TMC family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Product Notes

The TMC6 tmc6 (Catalog #AAA8552246) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TMC6 (N-Term) Rabbit pAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TMC6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TMC6 tmc6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TMC6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
