NCBI Description

TIMM9 belongs to a family of evolutionarily conserved proteins that are organized in heterooligomeric complexes in the mitochondrial intermembrane space. These proteins mediate the import and insertion of hydrophobic membrane proteins into the mitochondrial inner membrane.[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004]

Uniprot Description

TIMM9: Mitochondrial intermembrane chaperone that participates in the import and insertion of multi-pass transmembrane proteins into the mitochondrial inner membrane. May also be required for the transfer of beta-barrel precursors from the TOM complex to the sorting and assembly machinery (SAM complex) of the outer membrane. Acts as a chaperone-like protein that protects the hydrophobic precursors from aggregation and guide them through the mitochondrial intermembrane space. Belongs to the small Tim family.

Protein type: Mitochondrial

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q21

Cellular Component: mitochondrial intermembrane space protein transporter complex; mitochondrion; mitochondrial inner membrane; mitochondrial intermembrane space

Molecular Function: protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; zinc ion binding; transporter activity; chaperone binding

Biological Process: cellular protein metabolic process; sensory perception of sound; protein targeting to mitochondrion; protein import into mitochondrial inner membrane

Product Notes

The TIMM9 timm9 (Catalog #AAA9207979) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 18-44. The TIMM9 Antibody (Center) reacts with Human (Predicted Reactivity: Bovine, Zebrafish, Mouse, Rat) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TIMM9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TIMM9 timm9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TIMM9, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
